J&A Hanks Opticians was established in 2009 by James Hanks and was originally based in Clacton-On-Sea as Eyes Open Opticians. In 2017, we relocated to our larger premises in Thorpe-Le-Soken, where Andrea Hanks joined and we became J&A Hanks Opticians.

For those who have had cataract surgery, we offer post-surgery monitoring through the NHS. This ensures you receive the necessary follow-up care to monitor your vision and eye health throughout your recovery.

Andrea picked up an issue with one of my Son’s eyes early on, which in turn helped us get the appropriate treatment rapidly. He is now classed as visually impaired but to this day, we will be forever grateful to Andrea as she acted quickly to get us where we needed to be. Without her, things could have been a lot worse.

She has worked alongside my Son’s consultants at GOSH & Moorfields, to help him adapt. She has given him some glasses which she has tweaked multiples times to help give him the best vision possible. It has now helped improve his life!
