EYE EXAMINATIONS

As independent opticians in Thorpe-le-Soken, we want to provide exceptional eye care to everyone in our community. With thorough examinations for vision and eye health, we make sure all of our patients are properly taken care of.

NHS eye examinations are available to provide the essentials of regular testing, while private examinations can provide a more comprehensive assessment.

No matter which eye test you choose, you can be sure that our examinations are thorough and aimed to ensure that each patient gets the care they need.

YOUR EYE HEALTH

Your eyes provide you with your most precious sense, but they are also an important part of your overall health. Eye examinations not only tell you whether you’re suffering from vision loss, but they can catch a variety of eye problems including those linked to serious conditions like diabetes and glaucoma.

You can take care of your eyes and eyesight by living healthily and taking action to protect your eyes from screens and the sun, but it’s also important that you have them looked at by a qualified optometrist to make sure vision loss or eye conditions are not developing without your knowledge.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR EYE EXAMINATION?

Eye examinations are personalised for each patient because different people have different eye care needs. Depending on your age, family history and medical status, you may be recommended additional tests or screenings. However, all of our eye examinations will test your eyesight and look at your overall eye health.

A visual acuity test is how we can accurately determine how strong your eyesight is. Your optometrist will also test the pressure in your eyes and examine the different parts of your eyes to look for abnormalities. At the end of the exam, your optometrist will let you know if you need vision correction, how healthy your eyes are and whether you are at risk of any eye conditions.

FUNDUS PHOTOGRAPHY

Fundus photography is used to examine the inner surface of the eye and is especially helpful in diagnosing conditions like glaucoma and macular degeneration. As part of our eye examinations, we use fundus photography to provide a more detailed look at your eye health. The use of this technology is especially recommended if you are at a greater risk of eye conditions or if you are concerned about your eye health.
